Intelligence and Energy Too Cheap to Meter
Moving from Science to Simulation
We are converting energy into intelligence with increasing efficiency.
Where does this all go? What comes next? How will this impact the real world, not just geeks in research labs & the chronically online?
The previous briefing outlined the “What.” It told you that the cost of Energy and the cost of Intelligence are collapsing toward zero. That is the landscape. But a landscape is just dirt until you build a fortress on it.
Now we discuss the “How.” We are going to talk about Torque. We are going to talk about Velocity.
We are going to talk about what happens when you take the three most powerful forces in human history and fuse them into a single, terrifyingly fast loop.
Research
Engineering
Manufacturing
Welcome to the Kinetic Singularity.
PART I: THE ACCELERATION VECTOR
History is a flat line broken by violent vertical spikes. We call these spikes Revolutions.
Agriculture. Industry. Silicon. You are living through the fourth spike. But this one is different.
Previous revolutions were linear. You invented steam. Then you built a train. Then you laid track. It took decades. The feedback loop was slow. If the boiler exploded, it took ten years to redesign the valve.
That friction is gone.
We are entering an era of Recursion. The tool builds the better tool, which builds the tool that builds the tool. The gap between “I have an idea” and “The machine is running” is evaporating.
Most people see AI as a chatbot.
They are fools. AI is not a product. AI is a master force.
AI is a Compression Algorithm for Time.
PART II: CLOSING THE LOOP (THE FLYWHEEL)
The modern economy is a machine consisting of three gears. For the last century, these gears turned independently. They were rusted. They were slow.
Research: Scientists in lab coats writing papers.
Development: Engineers trying to make the math work in reality.
Deployment: Factories stamping out widgets.
Abstract, prototype, build.
In the old world, the transfer of energy between these gears was pathetic. Loss. Friction. Bureaucracy. It took twenty years to get a new material from a lab bench to a fighter jet.
The Firewall has burned down.
With the collapse of Intelligence Costs, we are seeing the unification of these three systems. We are moving from “Science” to “Simulation.”
The Digital Twin
You no longer need to build a prototype to test for failure.
You build a physics-compliant digital twin. You run ten million simulations in the time it takes a human engineer to drink a coffee. You fail ten million times inside the silicon.
Then, you output the one perfect design to the real world. This is not “efficiency.” This is Teleology. It is the end of trial and error. It is the beginning of “First-Shot Perfection.”
When Research instantly informs Engineering... And Engineering instantly informs Manufacturing... And the data from the Manufacturing floor instantly updates the Research model... You do not have a company. You have a Reactor.
PART III: THE ENERGY IMPERATIVE
But a reactor needs fuel. You cannot run a God-Mind on AA batteries. You cannot simulate the universe on a grid powered by burning dead dinosaurs.
This is the bottleneck. This is the choke point. Silicon is hungry.
We were told to conserve. “Turn off the lights.” “Save the planet.” Pathetic. That is a scarcity mindset. That is the logic of a dying organism.
A growing organism does not starve itself. It hunts.
We do not need less energy. We need Infinite Energy.
The Nuclear Necessity
Solar is cute. Wind power sucks. But for the industrial load we are about to apply to the planetary grid, there is only one answer. Density.
Take a hint, people: it’s called the STRONG FORCE.
You need the strong force. You need the atom. SMRs (Small Modular Reactors). Fission today. Fusion tomorrow. This is not a political opinion. It is a physics equation. If you want the Intelligence Cost to hit zero, the Energy Cost must hit zero.
They are tethered.
They are the same variable.
If you restrict energy, you restrict intelligence. If you restrict intelligence, you stagnate. If you stagnate, you die.
The winners of the next decade will not be the software companies. They will be the entities that physically own the Gigawatts. The electron is the new dollar.
PART IV: THE KINETIC MANIFESTATION
This is where the sequel leaves the original story behind.
We have discussed the brain (AI). We have discussed the blood (Energy). Now we must discuss the body.
Robotics.
For twenty years, the internet was trapped behind glass. It was pixels on a screen. It could tell you the weather, but it could not hold an umbrella. It could design a bridge, but it could not pour the concrete.
The glass is breaking.
When you combine:
Infinite Intelligence (The Brain)
Infinite Energy (The Battery)
Advanced Actuators (The Muscle)
You get Embodied Intelligence. The algorithm is becoming kinetic. It is stepping out of the server rack and walking onto the factory floor.
The Industrial Renaissance
Standard economic theory says manufacturing is dead in the West. Standard economic theory is wrong.
Manufacturing is only dead if labor is your primary cost.
When labor is a robot powered by a micro-reactor, guided by a super-intelligence... The cost of labor approaches zero. Suddenly, it makes no sense to ship steel across the ocean. You build it here. You build it now.
I am failing as a writer if your mind isn’t racing by this point. Think about the implications of labor cost and energy cost… and intelligence cost.. all being near-zero.
This is not just “automation.” This is the re-materialization of the economy. We are moving from an economy of “Bits” back to an economy of “Atoms,” but the Atoms are moving at the speed of Bits.
PART V: THE SYSTEM OF SYSTEMS
Now, zoom out. Stop looking at the components. Look at my favorite part. Look at the architecture.
What happens when these flywheels interact? This is the Multiplicative Effect.
The AI designs a more efficient nuclear reactor.
The reactor provides cheaper energy to the AI.
The AI becomes smarter and designs a better robot.
The robot builds the reactor faster and cheaper.
The cheaper reactor powers a massive fleet of robots.
The robots mine materials to build more compute.
The compute runs a better AI.
Read that again.
It is not a circle. It is a spiral. It is a tornado. And it is spinning faster every second.
This is the “System of Systems.” It is an autopoietic engine. It builds itself. Once this threshold is crossed, human input moves from “Operator” to “Director.” You are no longer shoveling coal.
You are steering the starship.
PART VI: THE TRAP OF COMFORT
There is a problem. The problem is you. The problem is your wetware.
Your brain evolved to survive on the savannah. It evolved to conserve calories. It evolved to fear change. It is linear. It is slow. It is fragile.
You are looking at this future and you are feeling one of two things:
Fear. (”My job is gone.”)
Complacency. (”The robots will do it for me.”)
Both are fatal errors.
Most people will become “The Pet.” They will let the AI think for them. They will let the robot work for them. They will consume Universal Basic Income and VR content. They will be fed. They will be safe. They will be irrelevant.
You must refuse to be a passenger.
You must become the interface.
You must understand the stack. You do not need to be a nuclear physicist. You do not need to be a coding wizard. But you must understand how the gears lock together.
You must treat this new infrastructure as your Exoskeleton. Do not compete with the machine. Wear the machine.
BE THE MACHINE
The acceleration is not coming. It is here. The floor you are standing on is moving.
You have two choices.
Option A: Cling to the old world. Niche down. Polish your resume. Hope the pension fund survives. Be a victim of the friction.
Option B: Align with the vector. Understand the physics of capital, energy, and code. Position yourself at the nexus of the flywheel.
The cost of being wrong has never been higher.
The reward for being right has never been greater.
I started Life in the Singularity in May 2023 to track all the accelerating changes in AI/ML, robotics, quantum computing and the rest of the technologies accelerating humanity forward into the future. I’m an investor in over a dozen technology companies and I needed a canvas to unfold and examine all the acceleration and breakthroughs across science and technology.
Our brilliant audience includes engineers and executives, incredible technologists, tons of investors, Fortune-500 board members and thousands of people who want to use technology to maximize the utility in their lives.
