There is a moment in most processes or events where an invisible line is crossed.
Everything before this threshold can be undone, everything after - irrevocable.
Caesar crossing the Rubicon is the most famous historical example.
Many believe when true AI, often referred as “Artificial General Intelligence” emerges that our society will have crossed such a line.
The Singularity is what we in the Tech industries call this moment.
Borrowed from astrophysics, Singularity refers to the core of a Black Hole.
Black Holes are stars with massive gravity that creates an inescapable radius that even light can’t resist.
Once you enter the radius, the Event Horizon it is called, rays of light and everything else in the known Universe are helpless to escape.
You’ve crossed over into the Singularity.
There is a running debate on two matters related to the AI Singularity:
Will we ever cross this line?
When will we cross this line?
I believe we have already crossed beyond the Event Horizon.
This is Life in the Singularity.
We explore how accelerating changes to AI and related technology impact our lives - with a heavy focus on business.
Our primary takeaways will be tactical - how to implement these increasing capabilities and translate them to time savings, revenue generation and expense reduction.
We’re positioned at the intersection of:
Data Science
Data Engineering
Machine Learning Engineering
Machine Learning Operations
Python Programming
Revenue Operations
This real estate is already heating up and I look forward to exploring cutting edge advances, synthesizing new concepts and ensuring there is a heavy dose of practical application vs theory.
I'm going to start Life in the Singularity with a series of posts unpacking what makes Python and Machine Learning so important for the future, and then drill into explanations with examples including Python code.
There's an incredible opportunity (STILL) to become an early adopter of so many powerful technologies, tools, systems & machines.
Let’s grow and thrive as we explore Life in the Singularity together.
Thank you for reading!
One year from writing this, and 77 published pieces later...
It is incredible how much FASTER technology advanced vs expectations, AI in particular.
AI is now designing and developing entirely novel AI systems. The promise of AI Agents has begun to materialize in time savings + capability expansion.
I focus on AI because I see it as an engine adding energy to every other scientific and engineering effort in progress.
Here's to another year of Life in the Singularity!
